More Information:
The FieldConnex® Multi-Input/Output (MIO) is a unique fieldbus-powered
input/output block for binary signals. It is installed close to the
sensors saving cost for wiring and installation. The MIO connects
Foundation Fieldbus with simple binary signals such as:
* NAMUR sensors
* vibrating forks
* low-power solenoid valves with position feedback and
* frequency inputs
The inputs, outputs and the MIO itself are all powered by fieldbus. The
MIO features rugged design and hazardous area certification. It is a
drop-in replacement for the FieldConnex valve coupler FD0-VC* and F.VC*.
Junction boxes come with a choice of aluminum, GRP or stainless-steel
housing materials and high degree of protection, pre-wired and ready for
installation. The junction box can be tailored to the application and
include one or more MIO as well as device coupler for easy connection to
the fieldbus trunk.
Installation in hazardous areas
The sensor connections of the MIO are certified intrinsically safe, FISCO
or Entity even if the fieldbus installation is not. For application in
hazardous areas the:
* MIO is certified for installation in Zone 1
* Sensors can be located in Zone 0
Control functions and DCS integration
The MIO communicates all data, configuration, status and alarms to the
DCS. It monitors lead breakage and short-circuit conditions at each input
or output.
For valve control the MIO monitors position, break-away and run time. It
can be configured to automatically conduct partial stroke tests.
