The Zone 1 Ex e Field Device Couplers series 9411/11 connect 4 or 8
explosion protected Ex d / Ex m FOUNDATIONTM fieldbus H1 field devices to
a non-intrinsically safe / Ex e / Nonincendive fieldbus (high power
trunk). A feedback effect from the spurs on the trunk is prevented in the
case of short-circuits by current limiting (spur protection). The Field
Device Couplers feature a power management to minimize current from the
trunk:
* during start-up of a fieldbus segment, the Softstart function
activates the spurs one after the other resulting in a significant
lower inrush current
* in the event of multiple short circuits, all short circuited spurs
are de-energized until the failure is eliminated. Even with multiple
short circuits per coupler, the trunk is loaded with max. one short
circuit current at a time.
The cable shields can be connected via capacitive connections at the
terminals or directly at the integrated cable screen bus bar.
The Zone 2 Ex n Field Device Couplers series 9411/34 connect 4 or 8
explosion protected ic / nL / nA FOUNDATIONTM fieldbus H1 field devices
to a non-intrinsically safe / Nonincendive fieldbus (high power trunk).
The functionalities are the same as described for series 9411/11
The cable shields can be connected via capacitive connections at the
terminals or directly at the optional available cable screen bus bar.
The couplers are mounted on DIN rail or in housings made of fiber
glass-reinforced polyester, sheet steel or stainless steel.
