Press Release: FDI Device Package and Host Registration Now Available!
FieldComm Group Opens Registration for All FDI-enabled Products
Austin, TX, USA (11 January, 2017) – FieldComm Group has announced the availability of testing and registration for FDI™ Device Packages and FDI Host Systems to the industry integration standard. Official testing and registration of FDI compliant products, as well as EDDL-only based products, is an important step for device manufacturers as it ensures robust, compliant solutions that meet or exceed the industry requirements. It also offers a level of assurance to users that the product will operate as expected regardless of manufacturer.
FieldComm Group, alongside industry partners and associations such as PROFIBUS & PROFINET International, OPC Foundation, FDT Group, and ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute aim to drive adoption of FDI Technology to become the de facto global standard for field device integration independent of underlying device protocols. Because of this broad support and common goal, FDI will ensure optimal user experience across the industry standards for products and systems.
Ted Masters, President & CEO of FieldComm Group states, “FieldComm Group is now ready to register FDI hosts and field devices and we will begin to see products available to our end users that simplify device integration. We look forward to demonstrating interoperability across systems with this new technology and expect to build on the registered products available in the market as the year progresses. After many years of investment by major suppliers and collaboration of standards organizations, FDI is now here!” FDI, and its broad industry support by standards bodies, is an important step in users and manufacturers aligning with a shared vision of a single open integration technology to bring systems and devices together regardless of communication protocol. It will be a key element of bringing the process industries into the era of Industrial Internet of Things/Industrie 4.0.
Sean Vincent, Director of Technical Services for FieldComm Group, added “By being a single-source vendor-neutral organization for product suppliers to perform conformance testing for FDI-enabled devices, FieldComm Group can help ensure robust and interoperable solutions for users around the globe. All official testing and registration of FDI-enabled products for FOUNDATION Fieldbus and HART will come through our office and will provide users confidence that their products will integrate seamlessly into their enterprise.”
To submit products for official compliance testing to the specifications, companies can go to https://support.fieldcommgroup.org and submit a ticket to begin registration. Additional information on pricing, scheduling and general planning can be found at http://go.fieldcommgroup.org/registration.
